Last days of summer fun!

Will and I are such a great team..or at least we think so! We were able to get Kate and Wright to the beach with all of our gear in one trip! People always inquire about the difficulties of having twins and managing two babies. Obviously, we don't know any different..and wouldn't want it any other way, but I think it just take extra planning, more patience and the ability to laugh. Most of you know that laid back would not be how I am described, however I feel that the past 9 months I have learned to "let go" and realized even the best plans have room for adjustments. Beach days are a perfect example!

We went to Sullivans Island at 10am and secured a spot (parking and beach) before the crowds swarmed. Kate surprised us and immediately crawled off the blanket to the sand and started playing..Wright quickly followed. They were COVERED in sand and were happy as clams. Wright loved going in the ocean and was kicking his legs and laughing with the waves. He stood in the surf and dug his toes in the sand and would look up with such a happy smile! Kate didn't enjoy the waves quite as much, but was happy to get the sand off of her. Afterwards we enjoyed lunch on the Island and made it home just before the afternoon storm.

Kate took off as soon as we put her down... you'll notice it is rare for her to be without her pacifier. She is cutting her eye teeth and always wants something in her mouth

We all enjoyed an afternoon nap!

Today we went to the Mt. Pleasant Park and Pier. We enjoyed a picnic overlooking the harbor and afterwards swinging! They loved it!
Wright LOVED the swing!

9 month checkup

We had our 9 month checkup with Dr. Graham this week and Kate and Wright are doing great!
Our petite girl is just over 18 lbs and 27 inches long. She is below 50% in most categories except head circumference which is topping out in the 90%. Wright is just over 22 lbs and 28.5 inches long. He is above 50% in all categories and also 90% in head circumference!

They turned on the charm for the doctor with big smiles and cute babbles.
Kate and Wright have started eating finger foods with their meals. Kate enjoys it more because she is a bit more independent. Wright normally wants to be fed as fast as we can get the spoon to his mouth!

New foods in the last week are organic cheddar cheese, canteloupe and broccoli....they love their greens...at least for now!

Kate is crawling more and pulling up! They usually both pull up on the same table, ottoman or couch...Kate will then laugh and they love to move to music!

I am still part time and LOVE my time with them.

We had our first visit to the Charleston Aquarium last week with some friends and they enjoyed watching the fish and all the people. It is a great indoor activity in this insane heat.

9 months

Happy 9 months Kate and Wright! We are so lucky to have such sweet, healthy babies! Each day brings new joys and laughter. They have become very aware of each other. We hear them "talking" to each other as they wake up each morning. They both look for the other one in the crib as they fall asleep. Sometimes they grab hands and other times just look at each other and smile. It is precious! We attempted to take a few pictures this afternoon....it isn't as easy as it used to be!

They don't share a crib, but do enjoy climbing in together and pulling up. This picture was taken after they both fell asleep in our arms finishing their bottles...as soon as they went into their cribs they weren't sleepy anymore!

Kate and Wright love the water and really enjoyed playing yesterday afternoon. Thank you Gran for such a fun water toy!

Fun Day

After a fun, long weekend in Atlanta we were all happy to be home today. We had a great day together and Kate and Wright were so much fun! They really enjoyed their new musical table! Kate has started to pull up as well so I added the legs to see how they would do. See video below. This is one of many great videos that reflect their fun personalities. You can see that Wright reaches for her pacifier and then decides that the toy is still more interesting.

We are in recovery mode from our first ear infections. It started out as a virus with some congestion that drained into their ears. Wright was diagnosed last Tuesday and started medicine and Kate was diagnosed on Thursday. Needless to say, last week was very busy with two little ones that weren't feeling well! They were troopers though..they take their medicine well! Wright weighed 21 lbs. 10 oz and Kate 17 lbs 13 oz...We knew he was heavier but I didn't think almost 4 lbs! I can not believe they are almost 9 months..we have our check up in a few weeks.
We have moved them from their carriers which is sad for me because they are growing up so quickly. Wright is especially happy to be in the larger car seat. They are still rear facing, but have much more room.

Kate has started talking and has the sweetest voice. She isn't saying much but I hear an occasional mama-mama-ma. Will and I think Wright says, "Hey" and "Baba" for bottle along with dadada and other sweet noises. He seems to move around faster every day crawling on all 4's and pulling up on anything and putting everything in his mouth. Kate started crawling today! She has been army crawling for the past week or so, but tonight crawled on all 4's. We are so proud of them!

They are also eating so well and so much! I continue to make their food which has been a great experience! They love their veggies and have started some self feeding. Kate is especially interested in feeding herself. Wright just wants to eat! Kate likes bananas cut up..kind of, but doesn't care for them mushed with oatmeal. She loves most veggies, pears and peaches. Wright really likes anything we put in front of him. They love crushed ice or frozen fruit in their nibblers. That is always a fun afternoon treat!
