We were lucky enough to be with my extended family last week on the Isle of Palms! Their were 20 people in one huge, gorgeous home and we had a blast! So many wonderful memories that I will always treasure. Kate and Wright loved all the extra attention from aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents! We celebrated Harry's 80th birthday with a Georgia Tech cake, video slideshow and skits. It was priceless! The week consisted of food, fun, music, crabbing, swimming, yoga, golf, fishing and more food. Kate and Wright liked the beach and put their hands and feet in the sand for the first time. Wright of course took a fistfull and went straight for his mouth..fortunately I anticipated this and was able to run interference. Wright loved sitting in the surf with his daddy and letting the water run over his legs. He had the biggest grin! Kate is like her mommy and preferred to sit under the umbrella and feel the dry sand in her toes..twirling her ankles the entire time!
I am so lucky to have an amazing family and I loved the time we had together!

With the blink of an eye....

Will and Wright enjoying an evening on the dock
We enjoyed a family afternoon at the new Mount Pleasant Park!
Loves those grins!

Where to begin....we have been very busy the past few weeks and every time I started to sit down and update the blog a few others things got in the way. Kate and Wright are amazing little babies! We had a great 6 month doctor's visit..well, except for the shots. Those are never fun.
Wright had grown 2.5 inches since our last appointment to 27 inches (Will was quite relieved that he is now taller than Kate) and weighed 16 lbs. Kate was just shy of 15 lbs and was 26 inches long. They are now charting in a great % for their age and the doctor is extremely pleased with their development!
We have incorporated more food and they have been eating 3 meals a day for the past few weeks. I am making their food which is rewarding and sometimes challenging because they are eating so much! They love sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, pears, bananas, apples and peaches. They will eat green beans and butternut squash and tolerate avocados. They are both sitting up strong and Wright has started getting on all 4's and rocking back and forth. It won't be long before he is crawling..will be bittersweet for Will and I. Wright also cut his top 4 teeth..yes 4 new teeth last week. He now has 6 teeth. Kate has not cut any teeth yet, but is showing signs. Wright was a trooper through teething with minimal tears...just lots of teethers and drool!

Kate and Wright are already learning to share and are taking toys from each other. It seems that if Kate is playing with something Wright wants it and will wiggle to lay across her and grab at the toy, her dress or her to get it! She is a fighter and hangs on and squeals for him to stop. He just looks up with his toothy grin to make sure I see what is going on and moves on to the next toy!
Wright and Kate enjoy playing peekaboo, eating frozen fruit or ice from their nibblers, jumping, music and the water! It is amazing to watch them grow and develop. They babble and blow rasberries, reach for toys, get upset when they can't reach a toy, hold their bottles and have started trying to feed themselves. We are incredibly lucky!
