A year changes...

What a great first year Kate and Wright had at O'Quinn! We could not have been more pleased with their teachers Mrs. Dodds and Ms. Morgan. They have learned so much and made some great friends!

They recognize all letters, they can spell their names, write a few letters, count items and recognize numbers among other things.  When asked what makes them happy at school Kate said "Elizabeth and Juliette" Wright said "riding in a fire truck"

When asked about what they enjoyed most about the year Kate said "playing outside" and Wright said "working with my W"

Wright grew 4 inches to 43 inches and Kate grew 4.5 inches to 41.5 inches

I am amazed at how much their looks have changed! Wright completely looks like a little boy now...no more toddler. Kate's hair has grown and she has also lost that baby look.

One thing hasn't changed...their bright smiles!!

They love to read and wanted to read before we could leave their classroom

Wright's run of not so good luck

Wright had his first big accident shortly after Bennett was born (10 days to be exact) at school. He fell on the playground and hit the edge of a picnic table resulting in a cut on his cheek. He was SO brave! Will took him to the ER at East Cooper and I met them there. He had to get 4 stitches on his cheek and did not shed a tear. We took him to Moes after, his request, for lunch and then for cupcakes. He is so sweet and wanted to wait until we picked up Kate to get cupcakes so she could go with us.

And if that isn't enough for this Momma's heart....
About 3 weeks later he had his second big accident this one at home. He and Kate were playing in the den and he hit his mouth on her knee and his front tooth was knocked out. Owww!! Again, he was very brave. Will took him to meet our dentist and received an interesting report. It happened on a Sunday afternoon so we were very thankful for a friend who is a dentist who gave us some great advice (Thank you Hamp!) and for a dental practice that has an on call dentist.  Wright had not had xrays yet so we were not aware that he has an extra tooth. It is called a calcium tooth and was starting to come in above the one that was knocked out so the roots had already started to dissolve which is why it came out so easily.  That makes Will and I feel just a teensy bit better about the fact that he is missing his tooth.  One positive is that now his permanent teeth won't be as crowded so when they do start to come it should be better.  Wright has handled it all well and doesn't seem to be bothered.

When I reminded him that his tooth was gone he easily replied, "It will grow back Momma, I promise!"

He was visited by the tooth fairy with a friendly reminder to be careful!

Hopefully he will be accident free for awhile!!
