A little mix

Kate especially loves to sit in big chairs

Wright loves to hug Kate..sometimes she is ok with it and other times this is how she reacts...
"No pictures please"
Does Mommy see me trying to get into this cabinet?

Kate has been so cute lately as her personality develops...she, like her daddy, LOVES music! She also loves shoes, sunglasses and dresses! Wright loves to push things and loves moving anything from one place to the next...toys, tupperware, shoes...anything. They love to play chase with each other and have started talking back and forth before and after nap. They were trying to throw their socks between their cribs the other day! Kate is fairly quiet when she wakes up and most of the time if she wakes before Wright we can get her out...other times her stirring wakes him and she gets so excited when she sees his head pop up. They have their own little games!

They are both talking more, mimic sounds and try to repeat what we say and what they hear each other trying to say. Kate is more verbal than Wright, but he watches her and celebrates with her! She says quack, moo, bye, cacker (cracker), maaa for yogurt, milk and a few other things. Wright says dog, he goes woof woof and still growls like a tiger, moo, does sign language for more a few times a day because he always wants more food! Wright loves to wave bye bye. He associates Mr. Dinkins with being outside and as soon as he saw him last week he started waving and pointing towards the door so they could go outside and play together! They both say daddy or dada very clearly and momma more frequently in the last 2 weeks. Kate loves to go around the house and point at pictures, she grabbed a picture of Will yesterday afternoon and brought it to me and said "dada"...she also gets really excited when she looks at kennedy anne's picture and says something that sounds like key. Jessica ( their nanny) said that she always goes to a picture of Will and I and points to each of us and smiles...sweet girl! Kate also points at wright and says ba-ba. Wright knows where his ears are when you ask and they are learning other parts of their face. Every day is so amazing as they learn new things! The wonder and excitement they feel is so contagious and I am reminded to sit back and soak it all in....

Quick update on Wright's ears: Over the weekend he had drainage from his left ear, it was a fluid/bloody mix. We were able to see an ENT doctor today (same one from previous post) and Wright did have a small perforation in his ear, but it has healed and their is no fluid! He did great with his audio exam so nothing has impaired his hearing. We are so thankful for our answer to prayers! At this point we do not have to get tubes. We have a follow up in a few weeks just to make sure that the ears are clear.
So now when I say Wright's name and he doesn't turn I can't blame it on his ear infection...hmmmm...

I have some great videos that I have been trying to upload and we are having technical difficulties. More to come!

6 years of wedded bliss

Will and I celebrated our 6th anniversary on January 8th! I love a celebration and like to make things last longer than they maybe should....anyway, as we approached our anniversary Will asked, "please let me plan our evening..no questions"....I obliged with a cheshire grin on my face for days actually. His parents came down Friday afternoon to keep Kate and Wright so mommy and daddy could have some one on one time. We both had been feeling under the weather so an uninterrupted night of sleep that lasted past the sunrise was in order. Around 4:30 Friday afternoon Will asked if I was ready to go, asked me to pack for dinner out and that was about it..I quickly throw 3 outfits into an overnight bag, kiss my babies a dozen times and we head out the door. I had not showered yet (busy day at pediatrician and Target) and was asked by hubby if I was "wearing that shirt"...interesting. About 30 minutes later we witness the start of a beautiful sunset as we travel over the Ravenel bridge and head down East Bay. Just past Market we pull off to the valet at the Market Street Pavillion!! As many times as we have come here to the rooftop I have never stayed and was so excited! The room was beautiful, view amazing, food extraodorinary and the company unmatched. It was a wonderful evening!
Saturday we took our time getting back to the house and arrived around lunch. All was well with our babies..we were greeted with squeals and big hugs! A bit of history before I tell this last part...Friday morning I took Kate and Wright to the pediatrician to follow up from our visit to the urgent care in Athens (Wright had an ear infection). They both still had runny noses, but coughs were much better and they seemed to feel better. No Phd here because both of my children have ear infections and Wright has one in both ears...so we were encouraged to see an ENT and are on stronger antibiotics for him. Yes, they are on two different medicines with two different doses just to make things easier. Side note, Wright weighed 25 lbs 5 oz and Kate weighed 20 lbs 5 oz.
So, Saturday afternoon I pack up Wright after nap to take him to see an ENT at their house (longer story than necessary..good friend of Claire)..he offered to check out his ears which was so nice because I was concerned that we can't shake this infection. Pulling up to their home, Wright throws up EVERYWHERE....staying calm I park, get paper towels etc and clean him up. We go inside borrow pants from their little boy (we are in the same music class) and check the ears. They aren't great and we will do follow ups, but we are in good hands. We are finishing up and poor baby throws up again.....borrow pants and shirt from little friend and start to worry more about little man and can't believe this is happening at Doc's home. Walk outside..you guessed it again...and one more time when we got home. Needless to say, Wright took his first bath in the big tub and drank lots of pedialyte. He wasn't sick again and resumed eating and medicine. No signs of sickness in Kate (thankfully). So around 6:15 anniversary evening Will and I look over our sweet children's heads, me finally cleaned up but still have to tackle the car seat, and smile remembering our vows we took 6 years ago. We wouldn't change a thing. Blessed is the word that comes to mind.

White Christmas!

Christmas is my favorite holiday for so many reasons. I love celebrating the birth of our Savior, being with family, the smell of a Christmas tree, beautiful lights, and Christmas music to name a few! This year was even more special for our family. We had a great time with the Dinkins and Palmer families in Sumter. We sang Christmas carols, had a fun hayride, decorated cupcakes for Baby Jesus and enjoyed each other! Mrs. Dinkins gave me a very special gift...She had an artist draw one of the sweetest pictures of Kate and Wright for me that I will cherish forever!
This is the picture she used....
The artist did a wonderful job!

We headed to Athens on the 23rd to visit my parents for Christmas. My parents had a full house and all their grandchildren (and children) together for a full week! Kate and Wright did very well transitioning to a different place and loved all the extra attention! On Christmas morning they were very cute as they approached all their gifts from Santa and then had a great time opening presents and playing with everything. We are so blessed as they received so many fun toys and cute clothes!
Kate loves to play outside! We were all enjoying a nice afternoon Christmas Eve
Wright went straight to the football and threw it to his daddy
Santa visits Kate and Wright
Wright loves playing with his handyman set

My aunt Kelly and her family, surprised my grandparents on Christmas Day which was so sweet and very special! They flew from Las Vegas and stayed at my mom's with all of us. The surprise couldn't have gone better...It was a very sweet moment! It was the first time we had all been together in quite some time. All my mother's siblings and their families spent Christmas day together and then it started SNOWING!!!
My parents backyard
First taste of snow...literally for Wright.

We had 2.5 inches of beautiful snow that stayed for a few days! Kate and Wright didn't know what to think of the snow, but did enjoy how excited it made their Mommy and Daddy! We had a wonderful Christmas and brought the new year in all together. We look forward to 2011!!
